I have been a visitor to athens many times and the hotel carolina is by far the best value for money. The location is perfect for monastiraki metro and the plakka. Very clean room , friendly staff and a decent breakfast also tea and coffee in room. What more could you want from a very reasonably priced hotel

I stayed in Carolina Hotel for a leusre/sightseeing weekend break with my partnet in early May and overally i had a really great experience!
What amazed me was that all services were coplimentary! That included free wi fi throughout the hotel with an excellent signal inside and speed in the room and also a wired internet spot for those who didnt have a laptop that was free of charge as well!
Moroever this worked as a mini business center as well and was able to print my boarding pass free of charge again! It really surprised me as hotel carolina is just a 2-star medium budget hotel...
Apart from that hotel carolina offers coplimentary unlimited free tea/coffe facilities inside the room and a rich buffet breakfast, guess what...once again coplimentary. All above for just 80€ for a double room..
The room was small-medium sized, which can be excused for itscategory, however tidy and shiny clean , fully equipped with a laptop size safe deposit, tv, hairdryer, mini bar and coplimentary bathroom amenities.
To summarize, another important aspect of this great stay was the location! The hotel is situated on the commercial district of Athens which is full of shops with great clothes and accesories at very low prices. Being among 2 major metro stations a 5 min walk away from Syntagma and Monastiraki station made it easy to explore the rest of the city as all major sights (acropolis, plaka, monastiraki, columns of zeus etc) were located a 5 to 15 min walk on foot.
The whole area was safe and nice to explore on foot, therefore i totally recommend hotel carolina for those who look for good quality at good prices and a safe, central location nearby all tourist attractions!
Regards,
Mario from Milano!

This hotel was exactly as expected. It was in a great location-close to Plaka and the subway. It was clean, great breakfast, free internet. The room was small-but I expected that. We only slept there, so no big deal! We had a great little balcony off of our room with a table and chairs. It was nice! There was some street noise, but you are in the city! It wasn't anything crazy and didn't keep me up. The bathroom was also small and the shower head was handheld. Just don't bring your clothes in the bathroom with you as if you are not good with the shower head, they may get wet. We mastered it by the last night:) Really, this was a great choice for the price-I would highly recommend it!

The hotel is nicely placed in the shopping district of Athens and in a great location to visit all the great sites of Greece, you can walk to everything from hear. If you do a Grey Line Tour, like we did, you have to walk to a different hotel to get picked up due the narrowness of the street the hotel is on. The hotel had a great continental breakfast (meats, cheese, bread, jams, hard boild eggs, oj, different types of coffee and cocoa, fruit and pastries). We stayed here for one night when we did the tourist sites and then one night on our way back from Santorini to northern greece. We saw two different rooms, the first night the place was sold out, the rooms were quite, quaint and small. No views really, but it didn't matter, we there only to sleep. Beds were typical European, hard not soft and plush. The bathrooms and rooms are nicely kept. A great place to stay for those coming and going. If you plan on staying for a week or for business I would recommend a plusher hotel. All in all, for the price, location, breakfast and nice staff, it was a great place. Had a nice charm to it.

Hotel Carolina is very close to the Plaka area of Athens - the area with all the shops and restaurants is only 2 streets away, so I felt very safe walking back to the hotel alone at night. All the ancient ruins were within walking distance, and the Metro to the port was 5 mins walk away, as were the buses to the airport. It was clean and comfortable and the staff were very friendly and helpful. For the price, it is an excellent, central, safe option.
